Our values

BHNC Values and Culture align to the NHS Long Term Plan, the NHS Five Year Forward and the ICS / ICB priorities.

 

The 3 Core Values of BHNC are: Inspire, Empower and Connect.

 

BHNC works with Primary Care and the wider partners to understand the local needs & challenges of its population and the impact on the wider delivery system and therefore it:

 

  • Supports the system to inspire and develop innovative and deliverable solutions.

  • Develops and empowers its workforce to deliver the best possible care for its patients.

  • Understands it does not have the expertise to meet all of the wider needs of our patients therefore it connects with a wide range of delivery partners to develop a holistic solution.

 

Our ethos is to build and sustain a cohesive, motivated and committed workforce, which has (and continues) to demonstrate resilience at all times.

 

BHNC empowers their workforce though its management and leadership team to “Make a difference” to the lives of the residents of Bexley and to ensure that a seamless continuity of care is delivered each and every time.

 

BHNC staff empower their patients to be more in control of their health to make choices about the care they receive (where and when they receive it.)

In line with our Vision and values, can we ensure that we:

 

INSPIRE

  • Let colleagues speak and share information and their own experiences, our way may not be the most effective!

  • At the beginning of a meeting, ask “How are you”?  Listen to the response otherwise you would appear disingenuous.

  • When we are asking our Team to do something, a “please” and “thank you” go along way!

  • Just remember that we can’t do the job that we are here to do without the support from our Team. 

  • Our Team is one of our most important assets.

  • Let’s just be mindful of what we are delegating and asking our colleagues to do.  Can it be done another way?

  • Let’s recognise, we are all different and respond to different ways of communicating.

EMPOWER

  • Where possible work collaboratively; this usually brings out the best in people.

  • Start an email with Dear/Hi etc and end WKR, thank you etc.

  • Let’s ensure that we are positive role models for BHNC and in turn this will disseminate to our Teams and Patients. 

 

CONNECT

  • Speak to all colleagues and our Team with respect.

  • Be personable yet professional.

  • Communicate in an appropriate way, refrain from shouting or screaming or using any language that is not befitting.

  • Refrain from using capital letters as this is seen as shouting.

  • If you wish to highlight a particular point, use yellow or green as red is seen as offensive and a little like School.
